Encore Accuracy locker hinge pin from E.A.Brown CO?
« on: December 30, 2007, 04:51:55 PM »
Does anyone know anything about this pin? Does it really help out accuracy. Also, will I have to remove some material from my forearm to prevent rubbing? I new to this site and encores and would obviously like to achieve optimal accuracy. I will be doing a trigger job soon as well. Thanks guys!!

That's a good question. I don't know, but really doubt it. I will never know at my expense!!!

I agree with TC Dave 1. IMHO side to side pin movement is not a problem in the Encore.

Save your money for something else! What will effect the accuracy is the "locking lugs". T/C sell three sizes,to tighten up the lockup, when the barrel is in battery. Ron

My Encore 209x50 had one of those pins in it when I bought it.
Don't much care for it, and I keep losing the dang allen wrench.

Its just another gimmick. Just like the over sized hinge pins. Don't fall for it like I did.

After I free float the forearm I sand the ears on the side's so nothing touches the frame, and have never had the pin move side to side. Put the money in a good trigger job. I have done them, but the best one's I have were done by Bullberry. My $.02

Ron or anyone else,
Can you tell me more about the locking lugs and if this will really improve accuracy. Also, where can I buy these lugs?? Is this the as the locking locking springs I've heard about?

You would be better off to try to put some brass shim between the barrel block and the frame. The pin is suppose to stop movement within the frame and to stop pin movement. The pin shouldn't move in the first place. If it does then I would be calling T/c asking for a replacement pin or wondering what is wrong with the frame or the barrel. Like I said from what I have experienced they are all gimmicks.

The problem: Pin movement side to side and rotation
Most everyone who shoots the Encore has experienced pin movement at some time or another. My experience is that if the pin moves side to side or rotates, the point of impact will shift and accuracy will be effected. My most extreme example was when my pin had slid all the way to the side of my fore-end causing my .22-250 barrel to shoot 12" right.

This is directly from the site. If your pin moves then get a replacement from T/c for a few bucks and don't throw $40 away on something that will still rotate. I haven't had a pin move from side to side unless I have hit it.
