I bought a new Model 637 small framed revolver tonight and it has a matte silver finish. The frame is made out of aluminum, with a steel barrel, cylinder, and crane, at least the magnet thinks so.
What kind of finish is that? My owners manual says to be careful on chosen cleaners, essentially to use something you would use on your car finish. Is Hoppes #9 ok? And how rugged is this finish, is it like a paint?
