Versa Pack Notes
« on: December 31, 2007, 04:56:44 PM »
Couple of notes on the versapack 22LR barrel.  They are the "Micro Groove" rifled type, they are both pressed into the stub and pinned, the pin is tapered and drives out from right to left just like the pins in the receiver.  The filler screws in the scope mount holes are plastic.  The stub is undercut some so that a filler piece of plastic the rear sight mounts on will lock under the overhang of the stub, the filler is held to the barrel with one screw under the rear sight.  I have turned off the overhang so I can get a good surface to mount in a press, the barrel is in the stub quite tight.  There must be a step in the barrel inside the stub, the front of the stub has a larger hole in it than the barrel diameter at the rear.  Anyone else ever taken one these apart?  Larry
