You learn something new everyday!
« on: November 23, 2007, 01:16:58 PM »
Went to the range today. I figured I would shoot a bunch of 223 through the
bull Handi so that I could get some brass ready to load up some new ammo.
The groups weren't that good at all. It was pretty much spraying lead all
over the place. Just for the hell of it I removed the forend and fired some
groups to see if it would make any difference.

It did big time! This wasn't my most accurate load last time I was at the range and it was
way better than any group that I have shot with this rifle so far. I RTV bedded the forend
a couple of weeks ago. I think I the RTV is out too far from the mounting screw area. I
am going to trim it back with an Exacto knife and try it out next weekend. They has a Schuetzengilde
match at the range today. You know those fancy looking single shots with the long scopes.
These guys were friggin serious! There were about 8 of them. At every one of their shooting
benches they had a wooden box with all kinds of knick knacks from a complete reloading setup
with powder charger and press to wind gauges, tool of every description, and some serious
spotting scopes! These guys were into this thing so much it is almost scary! Beautiful looking
rifles though! I wish I had my camera with me today so that I could have got a few pics of their
setup. It was unbelievable!
