Update on no gunsmithing Mount

Well I went to the Range today and shot 40 rounds through the 308 Enfield 2A1 to see how the no gunsmithing mount held up, GREAT!!!! My modifications worked great. It never budged and the groups were running at about 2 1/2 to 3 inches at 50 yards. I did not really try to shoot for a group and let the gun cool down after several shots I basically shot 10 rounds at a time. The scope while it would be a fine scope for hunting is not the greatest for pin point accuacy either as it was a old K 2.5 weaver with a heavy post for the recticle. It would be a great woods scope though fast to use. and accurate enough for general shooting. Before I make any judgements on it I will see what the gun does with a other scope maybe it is fine I know every shot I shot would have put venison on the table at 50 yards so I am not complaining just have see what it likes the best to shoot. I do plan on putting a more powerful scope with crosshairs when I can find a reasonable one. I have no idea what to expect for groups with this gun either as it is a battle rifle not saying battle rifles are not accurate some are and some are not so if any one knows what to expect for a group with a good sight let me know. I shot Remington factory 308 and British 762 surplus both shot to the same point of aim. Jim

Well, call me crazy, but I wouldn't be so happy about 3" groups, even at 50 yards. Then again, if you are aiming right behind the shoulder on a whitetail, I guess that you can get away with 3" groups.

Zachary, I am not that happy with the groups just that the mount held as I have heard good and bad things about them.!! I am sure it is the scope and I talked today to the owner of the gun shop I go to and he said the same thing it is like aiming with a popple log, he had one and took it off of the 243 he had and put a scope with crosshairs on and the group shrunk in half or more. It was the only extra scope I had at the time to use. !!! I am sure once I get a scope with crosshairs the groups will shrink. Jim
