With the success of the Laupa 6.5x47/6x47 in 600yd matches I'm not surprised to see the 6.5 Creedmoor trying to get into that market.  Some are using the 6.5x47 for hunting and the time is right for 6.5 cases for the new lighter bullets.  I'm thinking about a 6.5x47 as a varmit rifle and in the 70's  the 7 IHMSA  with a case length of 1.866" started the interest in cases shorter than the 308 and Federal made brass for the IHMSA.

Not against new cartridges that actually offer something new and unique---but duplication of what's already out there is just a non-starter.

This one is a flop---as I said before.

Center fire cartridge's have been around a long time and it is becoming harder to come up with something new that has not been thought of yet. It's kind of like going to the movies now days. It seems like they are all just the same old movies with new characters playing the parts. Dale

I look at the 6.5 Creedmoor and I see the 6.5-.284.  They seem to be pretty close ballistically speaking, and they both are a short action cartridge.  Both are a "short and fat".  I am not sure if the 6.5-.284 can be chambered in the AR-10's style rifles.  The 6.5 round is very interesting to.  You can shoot 100 grain bullets and lighter, or you can get a very long 140 grain bullet with a high bc.

All in all, I really don't see the cartridge taking off.  I look at the ballistics and think that they look pretty good.   But for a handloader, can you match the hornady factory loadings?  I would choose the 6.5-.284 over the 6.5 Creedmoor.

The above rifles chamber for the 6.5c47 is the reason for the 6.5 Creedmore as you see they are not AR rifle, you have to go to the HP for the AR's.

My son's 6.5-.284 produces similar numbers with a 20" barrel.
