I look at the 6.5 Creedmoor and I see the 6.5-.284. They seem to be pretty close ballistically speaking, and they both are a short action cartridge. Both are a "short and fat". I am not sure if the 6.5-.284 can be chambered in the AR-10's style rifles. The 6.5 round is very interesting to. You can shoot 100 grain bullets and lighter, or you can get a very long 140 grain bullet with a high bc.
All in all, I really don't see the cartridge taking off. I look at the ballistics and think that they look pretty good. But for a handloader, can you match the hornady factory loadings? I would choose the 6.5-.284 over the 6.5 Creedmoor.
