ideas : round butting a blackhawk ...

If I wanted to round butt a 45 blackhawk conversion linebuagh did.... what do you think .... I had thought about putting a bisley grip on it but since it is so light and fine, a round butt made from the regular grip might be a cool upgrade...
suggestions on all aspects are welcome... it is stainless, so thinking a black or white micarta grip ..

A buddy of mine has a round butt on one of his Vacqueros. He loves it. I, on the other hand, don't see how he hangs on to it. He shoots a 265gr lead bullet over a stout load of 231. My BH will jump pretty good with this same load and it's got Pachmeyers on it.

I don't like the idea of a round butt on a single action. If it were standard I'd pay extra NOT to have one, can't imagine actually paying to have it done.

The grip on my Ruger Super Single Six that's on the way to Mag-na-Port to be customized for me is the best feeling Ruger grip I've owned. Dunno what it's called or a model name or number for it but I do like the size and feel of it. Even better than the Bisley I think. Dunno how it would be for heavy recoil but it sure fits my hand nicely.

  This little SBH was round butted slighty.  Can't say it really does anything but look different though.

now that looks nice. Could be that the slightly longer grip frame on the super would work fine roundbutted.

I had one round-butted like that SBH.  It also had the grips thinned to the thickness at the grip screw.  It felt wonderful and I really liked it.  One of those with a 4 inch barrel would be great.  44 Man

  Haven't thinned the grips any but the idea is something I might try.  This bbl o mine has been shortedened from 10 1/2" to the 4" (not 4 5/8" pictured

Kennisondan, I had a Super done that way and I've done a couple of Blackhawks also.  And the thinner grips were great!  They just took the flare off them from the screw hole down and they felt wonderful.  Of course I have small hands, if you have large hands, you may not want to do that.  That's one thing I have appreciated about the 'New Vaquero'.  With the thinner grip frame, it feels much better to me in the hand.  44 Man

44 man : I was thinking that since the grip is a bit small anyway for hot loads and am kept to lighter ones that making some change would make it even more comfortable etc. as a lighter duty gun.. but now I am thilnking that it just needs to either go to someone with smaller hands who appreciates it like it is... or just stow it away for a while... I am ready to shoot my 44 mag or 45  bisleys ... and will quit worrying about the small 45 for now...

I had turned to it due to it being sighted for light loads that would not hurt my torn elbow ligament... but have lost patience with that approach and am loading up some more full power 45s tonite and will use that this deer season or the 44 as it is sighted as well and ready to go...

the 475 is set and ready but a bit stiffer as the 420s recoil more than the 240s or 250s that I will use to baby the injury for now at least a very little ... what to do with the small converson.. I will stop for now on all of this, it would be wiser. 
time to hunt... not gunsmith or make changes...
