I've been shooting 700's for 30+ years, and was an dyed in the wool 700 fan. In the last ten years or so, I've gotten heavily into stainless Model 70 Classics, and have had extremely good luck with them. I do prefer a Model 70 Classic for a hunting rifle which will be carried in "the mud and the blood and the beer". I still have many of my older 700's and have no intention of parting with them. Having said all that, my lastest centerfire hunting rifle purchase was a 700 CDL SF .264WM! So, I am not married to any brand, specifically. Altho, if you took all of my Model 70's and 700's away, I wouldn't be able to go hunting.!! I don't own Rugers, Weatherbys, Tikkas, Sakos, etc. I've tried many other brands, but they didn't stay, for a variety of reasons. Once I find something I like, I stick with it! Also,I've been married to the same old woman for nearly 35 years!! Why switch when you like what you've got?
Having said all that, my heavy barrel prairie dog shooters remain 700's or 40X's. I firmly believe the Model 70 PF and CRPF rifles would serve me just as well, but have no reason to change right now.
