I called before sending in, and was told my barrels were in stock.  But, between then and when they started to fit, they ran out of 25-06 and 243.  So Im looking into August for return.  At least I am not in any hurry  >:(

I don't need these for anything, and I probably wont be shooting much between now and then anyway.  The good thing is that every acc barrel I have gotten fits both of my frames.  So I can shoot other barrels from my BC frame if I want to.  Actually, every barrel can be shot from the BC, but my open sight barrels are not shootable from the gun that is at the factory now.  The only thing I need to do is work up a load and zero my 30-06 savage before November.  So I'm not sweating any yet.

I decided to try some nosler ballistic tips instead of the Hornady lead tips I have been using for years.  I'm not too happy with the expansion of the Hornadys I have been getting.

Well, confusion grows  ???

Gun and barrels have arrived.  I dont know what CS was talking about, unless maybe they ran out of supply for the barrels while filing my order.  I was surprised to see the UPS delivery attempt sticker on my door.

And, more of my concern was the bad packing job they did.  I always send my gun in with a gun case and they usually pack gun and extra barrels nicely in that case.  This time the case was opened, and the extra barrel was not secured so it was bouncing around and chipped and scratched my stock.  One gun and one extra barrel easily fit in the case and the packing foam they included also fits allowing the case to be closed.  If the just snapped the lid closed the barrel would have been adequately secured.   >:( >:(

Take pics of the damage and email it to them, ask them to replace the stock, worked for me when they chipped the toe on my BC stock. ;)

I just got an email back from NEF this morning.  It said that they would be shutting down in a few hours and would be closed for 2 weeks.  I also asked about .357 mag barrels.  They are out of them and should have some in about 8 weeks.

Just got my .357 bbl back - 4 months - shoots like a dream with heavy bullets, but not short ones (cast of course).

(But, that's only one trip to the range.)

Was that a repair job or were you waiting for the .357 to be added and fitted. Just wondering if they are in yet. Kurt

It was a repair job.  I thought since it was already there, why not get the .357 and save on shipping.

I got an email back on Monday, Aug 27.  They said the barrels would be in that week and my gun should be sent by the end of the week.  Which means I should get it this week.  Tim, Quickdtoo, reported here some place that they only had 35 (?) .357 Mag barrels left from this current order.

They had about 30 barrels unspoke for on the 27th of August, that was after all of the barrel orders they had received so far were accounted for, I sent my frame in on the 28th. ;D

They received my receiver on Aug 10.  I waited until after their plant shut down before sending it.  I didn't want it sitting on their back porch until they got back, plus I already knew what the estimated date for the .357mag barrels to arrive.

I should add to the NEF/H&R wish list.  It would be really nice to be assigned an order number when your receiver arrives at NEF.  then you could check online to see the status:  received, waiting on barrel/parts (estimated date barrels are to be received), order waiting to be processed (meaning they have your stuff and you are waiting in line), order being processed (your receiver is being fitted or repaired or tuned), sent to shipping, shipped & tracking number (although I understand that there may be some legality about releasing the tracking number, at least that is what I read on one of the firearm distributor websites).  I don't mind setting up a user ID with NEF, I have one with everywhere else I do business.  At the present time, unless you ship with delivery confirmation or you contact the factory, you never know if they even received your order.

Another wish list feature could be on their website on the accessory barrel page, would be to list if a barrel is out of stock and when it might be back in stock.

When I sent my receiver in, I sent with delivery confirmation.  Never got any confirmation reply.  Finally called the factory and they told me that they had received the receiver.  I paid for delivery confirmation and didn't get it.  Whats up with that?  The Post Office keeps raising prices and service gets worse.  My .02

Delivery confirmation doesn't provide a reply, just a record of delivery, that you get online, enter the delivery conf/insurance number on their web site and you should get the results. You're thinking of a return receipt, totally different. Here you are acusing the PO of bad, when it's your own lack of knowledge that's the problem, having worked and retired from the PO for the better part of 33yrs, I've seen that happen a million times! ;)

I've used delivery confirmation hundreds of times and have never had one not show up and 99% of the time, delivery is in 2 days, not that it doesn't happen tho, one member recently lost a barrel in the mail, as did Mac. :'(

I sent a frame in for 2 barrels on 8/28, they received it on 8/30, it don't get no better than that considering I'm on the west coast, and for less than $10 including insurance!! ;)

:-[ :'(  Sorry about that Tim.  I never thought to ask about it.  Just thought they would let me know they got the receiver.  Didn't know to check on internet.  Do now tho!    ;)  Now I know what to do when I send it in again for the .223 barrel. Thanks Quick.
