Slugging my 45-70-What Bullet Diameter
« on: August 23, 2007, 05:10:53 PM »
I am confused------------------again!. In the FAQ they say that the bullet should be less than the groove diameter. Tim as I understand, you are recommending to go .001 or .002 larger than the groove dimension. Can you or someone else set me straight!

Thanks

Mc

The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook recommends .001" to .002" larger that groove diameter. ;)

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!! Slugging went smoothly with BOTH my Marlin and Pedersoli with groove diameters of 0.457 inches. So the boooooooooooooolit diameter is going to be 0.458 to 0.459. inches.

Shooting with black powder, 0.003 over groove diameter does a nice job obdurating lead bullets
