I haven't, bought some Tubbs bullets for my 338-06, but never needed em.

First off...Why do you feel you need to fire lap your BC? I have never seen a BC barrel  that was under spec'd enough.....or rough enough to need fire lapping...Some smoothing up yes...but...never that bad...Now the 38-55 Target model is another story entirely...but...fire lapping it would only make it worse because of the over sized bores most had on them...

Secondly...if the bore is rough enough or so far under the spec's enough to warrant fire lapping...it should be sent back to NEF...for replacement...at your earliest convenience.

To answer your question though...NO...I have never had any need to do this...I have been able to Flitz any barrel smooth enough to shoot good...Fire lapping can remove too much metal too quickly...even using the finest grit available...

My advise is to get some Flitz or JB paste and follow the directions in the FAQ's...This should be all you need for the excellent BC barrels that are being produced...If your just wanting to shoot lead...then I would smooth up your barrel & then slug it...and get an accurate size measurement, then cast or purchase the bullets of the appropriate size...
