44 mag or 45 lc

If you reload-45 colt.If ya dont-44mag.Most of the 45 colt factory loadings are very mild and great for plinking.If you want to hunt with it however,there isnt much out there.Corbon,garett,buffalo bore to name a few load +p magnum rounds that have as much or more power than a hot 44 mag load.Also PMC has a hot load.These hot loads should be ok in a marlin.They are ok in my 4 5/8" blackhawk pistol.I'm thinkin of getting one with a short barrel and open sights or red dot.

I do have a 94 Trapper in 44 mag, but my experience in comparing the two is in Contenders.  My 44's have always been way more accurate than my 45's.  If I hot load the 45's I have never been able to make them very accurate, but I am still playing with it.

I keep a 45 LC around just because it is a cool cartridge.

Now to borrow something you said about the 41 Mag but applying it to different calibers.  Why would you want a 45 LC when the 44 Mag cost about the same and has alot more power.

Either one is a good cartridge, go with what your heart feels you want.

By the way, where do you live to get prices like that on new guns?

Advocate, I have a Marlin Cowboy in .45 Colt that was slicked up by a gunsmith known as Coyote Cap. He has website, run a search. It is the smoothest, slickest gun I've ever owned. He charges $125 for that job. He is very popular with the Cowboy shooters. Someone asked where he could find Marlins at $299; here in southern California a sporting goods chain, Big 5, has them on sale about every week at either $279 or $299. But they are a cheapened version, plain wood, matte blue, no checkering. Mechanically same as the others as far as I know.
