Remington RemGrit TFL50 Dry Lubricant
« on: July 29, 2007, 05:34:51 PM »
Has anyone ever tried this on a rifle's action?  It sprays on and leaves a film of lubricant kind of like wax.  It isn't clear like Hornady One Shot, but about the same friction.  For that matter has anyone ever tried Hornady in an action?

I've used the Hornady One Shot for at least about 3yrs now, it's good stuff, provides dry lube without attracting dust or gumming up the action. I first used it inside of my Marlin and CZ bolts when I first bought them in '04 after cleaning them when new, still working fine, it's intended as a cleaner as well as a lubricant. Works well on the trigger group of a Handi too. ;)

I had an "ah, ha" kind of moment tonight.  I tried graphite in Rem 700 trigger group once and it just made mess.  Now I keep that one dry except for using Ronsonol lighter fluid to flush it out (it dries with a light varnish).  Anway, I had tried Tetralube on Handi hinge and Rem Oil on most moving parts.  The problem is that Rem Oil collects soot and dust.  I will try the Hornady first as I know how well it works on brass.

A long time ago I used a Remington dri-lube spray that went on wet and dried like One Shot, but if you put too much on, it left a white film, seemed to work fine tho.

I believe that I have an older version of that.  "RemGrit" wasn't a good marketing choice I suppose.  This stuff that I have is PTFE also and it does leave a white film when dry.  Thanks.
