scope advise
« on: August 27, 2007, 10:41:54 AM »
What are some reasonably priced scopes that perform well and hold up too the recoil of a .375? I just came across a great deal on a Rugger No 1 which requires a little longer tube than some rifles.  I truly have no specific purpose in mind but would like to see how well it will shot. We do not see a ton of dangerous game in Ohio, and work prevents me from taking many hunting trips. My eyes are all but gone.

Hey, you can always download to .375 Wnchester ( .38-55 ) velocity, and have one hack of a good deer round, or even use cast bullets as plinkers.
One scope you might want to look for is a used Leupold 3X , with the straight tube front ( no objective bell ). Tough, fairly long to fit your rings spacing, and good looking.
I have one with the post and cross wire, and it works real well.
Mark.

On my 416 Rigby and 375 H&H I use a Leupold VariXIII 1.5X5X20mm and it works great. You can also use the Leupold VXII 1X4X20mm, the eye relief in great.

Hi,

I use a Leupold VX-2 2x7-33mm on my 375 H&H.  I believe all the leupolds can handle the recoil of that caliber.

On my 375 H&H I have a Leupole 2X7 on it, On my 416 I have a Burris 1 3/4 X 5, On my 458 Lott I have a Burris 1 3/4 X 5 on it also. They all have been good scopes and handle the recoil.

Another Leupold VX-II 2-7x33mm user on a .375 H&H.  Works great.
