Shipping frame back to factory
« on: July 01, 2007, 09:25:49 AM »
I am getting ready to ship my frame back to the factory to be fitted with a new barrel. I was wanting to ask a questions so I make sure I get it right.

1.Do I need to send the stock and forearm with it?
2.Do I ship it in a box just big enough for the frame or do I use the box the rifle came in?
3.Is there a way to see when they got my frame?
4.Do I just put the money order in with the package?

                                                                                        Thanks for helping me out.

1.Do I need to send the stock and forearm with it?

Their instructions say to send the stock and forend with the frame, but some folks have just sent them the frame to avoid damage to their stock, it also cost less to ship the frame only. I've sent in a couple frames only and ordered a stock set at the same time.

2.Do I ship it in a box just big enough for the frame or do I use the box the rifle came in?

Yes, for a frame only, I use a small priority box, a large flat rate box will work for a frame and stock if you remove the stock, but send it, cost $8.95 plus insurance and delivery confirmation, if you use Click N Ship, delivery confirmation is free.

3.Is there a way to see when they got my frame?

Delivery confirmation will provide delivery date and time. UPS or Fedex will provide the same for more money.

4.Do I just put the money order in with the package?

Money order, check or credit card number will work.

If you send the wood with it they will be able to test-fire it.
I could never figure out why they don't have shop wood to mount on the receivers sent in for barrel fitting. I'd take a beat-up old wood stock and cut a big hole in the side for a ratchet if I were the gunsmith. That would mount up in 20 seconds w/o disturbing the recoil pad.
