HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR A EARLY M/L SEASON
« on: April 14, 2007, 02:14:52 PM »
I am still  dreaming but I wonder how long it will take for a early m/l season in the southern zone
BUT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN
I hate when they throw you a bone and extend the late season, cold and the deer are spooked to death

Probably won't or not for a long time. Too many whiny bowhunters out there that have enough clout putting a stop to the early M/L season. We don't want to cut into their sacred season do we?   ;)

What makes matters even worse is the Saturday firearm opener in So. zone;  Way too much pressure on the deer in my neighborhood.  By Monday they are either dead or hiding in the thickets & impossable to still-hunt.

Not whining my friend. Just voicing my opinion on what I think went down on this issue. It don't really matter much to me.  I'll be out there either way. I'd just like to have the option or choice of weapon.

'bout the only way[if ever] it will happen, is if enough people start using their wallets.
Don't buy a NYState license,hunt other states-and be really verbal/loud about it.
Perhaps NYSDEC/state legislature will get the message.

As long as there are more preferencial bow hunters than preferencial muzzleloader hunters nothing will happen.  They just don't want to share the woods and they have more clout which seems more important than truth or common sense.  If it were up to me I would offer a compromise and let the landowner decide which hunting implements could be used in early season.  Unless otherwise restricted, muzzleloader &/or archery should be options.  It's just pure poppycock to argue that muzzleloader hunting will scare the deer herd.  If that were so,  small game & turkey, and predator  hunting would be scaring the deer.
