444 Marlin
« on: May 16, 2007, 02:39:41 PM »
I drove to Mississippi today to pickup two Handi's chambered in 444 Marlin. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were Harrington&Richardson. The finish on both are beautiful, look like Ultra's. Best thing was $229.00 per each out the door.

Congrats!! Those are likely old models with the 1:38" twist, kinda hard to find, the current model with the 1:20" twist is only available as a Handi unless H&R is sneaking some unadvertised models out like the thumbhole Ultras, or a distributor ordered some as special editions, ya never know any more! :D I shot mine today with the 265gr Hornady and H4198 at 2165fps, got a one hole 3-shot group at 100yds.

I haven't checked the twist, but both barrels are extractor's. The receivers have this year serial no's. Finish looks like a good blue job not like the black smut job on my other Handi's. It will be awhile before I see how they shoot. I have too order some scopes and I am going baseballing next week In Birmingham Ala.

Sounds like ya got some special orders rifles, that's even better!! ;) They'll shoot good for ya, I'm sure!! I put a Bushnell Legend 2-7x32 in lapped low Leupold PRW rings, makes for a real solid mount, scope is very clear, adjustment crisp and accurate, a lot of scope for the money. ;)
