Open sights with monte carlo stock?
« on: May 22, 2007, 03:51:13 PM »
Hey all,  I'm new to the forum and would like to ask a question.  I have a handi in 25-06 and was thing of ordering a tracker II slug barrel for it.  Will I be able to use the open sights with the monte carlo stock?  I appreciate any feedback.

thanks,

Ken

I ran into the same problem.  I bought 270 handi with Monte Carlo stocks.  I then added a 357 mag with open sights.  Your face just cant get low enough to fully see the sights.  I would recommend a different stock.  I ended using my son's youth stock from his pardner to compare and it makes it right.  H&R states in the barrel program about this.  I've seen people on this site trading and selling stocks, but you have to be real quick or just plain lucky to get first cracks.

If it can be drilled and tapped a scope mount will solve this problem if you would rather go that route.  Good luck and welcome!
