Smith and Wesson customer service
« on: March 26, 2007, 07:49:09 PM »
Good Morning all   I bought a new smith and wesson model 41 about two months ago. I mounted a weaver base and a sightron red dot scope. I began ammo testing and found the pistol to function well but not shoot accurate. I tryed eley eps, eley standard , skj match wolf target match , cci standard, green tag federal gold and a few others. the best the pistol would shoot was 2 inches at 25 yards (rested) I went home and replaced the sightron with A leupold gilmore. returned to the range a few days later and retested ammo.I was very disapointed with the pistols accuracy.I called S&W customer service and was told that they would send me a next day air shipping label and instructions for proper shipping with a note of the problem.they had the pistol for one month.they shipped it back to my gun dealer(ffl)with a letter saying they replaced the barrel. today i retested the pistol with the sightron red dot. using the same ammo that I originally tested.I was verry happy with the results now it was shooting 1/2 inch ten shot groups at 25 yards. One ragged hole groups with the match ammo. skj match shooting best.NOw I must say Thankyou Smith and Wesson customer service for a great gun and great service. To all that read this Have a great day

Good to hear that they still offer great service! I have not dealt with the new S&W company, but many years ago I contacted the previous owners to discuss the 745 IPSC I shot in 2400 matches. I was having problems getting reliable cycling with low velocity loads. The service dept. sent me a package of three recoil springs to try at no charge! One of them allowed me to shoot reliably with my .45 ACP load of 185 gr. SWC, at 650fps.

I have found their service to be good.  But... I have bought three S&W's in the last couple of years and two of them had to go back and have problems fixed.  So even though the service was good, I think I should not have needed to send 2 of 3 new guns back within the first few months to have manufacturing problems fixed.

Yeah, that's a burn.  I sent back a USFA .45 TWICE and a new FA 454 Casull.  I've heard WAY too many of these stories and while I applaud good customer service this stuff should NOT be happening as often as it apparently is.
