My first Tikka, I'm in love!
« on: March 21, 2007, 09:27:21 AM »
I recently got my first Tikka T3 Light Stainless in 30-06 springfield. Mounted a cheap Simmons 3-9x40 scope on it with Tikka's factory aluminum rings and fed her some Korean MilSurp 168grn FMJ to get used to the buck and break-in. Theat cheap @$$ stuff still gave me 3/4" groups at 100 yards! Because it's really light I'm investing in a Hi-Vis X-Coil recoil pad for it, Limbsaver also makes one prefit for it for a few dollars more but the X-Coil is still better IMO. By far the smoothest action I've ever handled. Functions perfec, an absolutely awesome rifle. Stock fits me like a glove and puts my scope right in line with my eye every time with those rings.
I'm also investing in a Weaver Classic V-10 scope (2-10x38 in silver) to top it of and am planning on trying out Federal Fusion, Remington Managed Recoil, PMC Silver HPBT, and Seller and Bellot SP ammunition to see what she likes the best within reasonable prices.

84jeep10, I have (3) T3's and each one is more accurate than I expected with a production rifle.  They also fit me just right.  That doesn't mean they are perfect for everyone, for me they are a great fit and a wonderful bang for the buck.   Enjoy your selection and spend lots of time at the range.    Buckfever

My prior rifle was a NEF Handi-Rifle in .270 Win. I modified it with a 0 creep 1 lb trigger job and a 3" custom muzzle break designed to reduce recoil and muzzle rise. Good rifle, plenty of kick because it was so light but I liked it, love my Tikka better though. I also have had a Marlin Model 30, Mosin-Nagant, SKS, CETME, and the privelidge to fire many other fine surplus and civilian production rifles and the Tikka is by far the best. It fits me just right, however the Browning A-bolt Medallion 30-06 sprg was a more comfortable stock fit, but not by much, the lines a fairly similar in  the stock fit.

Wow...I'll be picking up my first T3 Lite in .308 this Sunday. MY current rifle is an NEF Handirifle in .270! While the Handi IS shorter and handier than the Tikka, the Tikka actually weighs less. If you'll look on the NEF web-site, you'll see the Handi is shown to weigh 7 pounds.
