Getting ready for a new adventure ...
« on: March 19, 2007, 10:49:45 AM »
I know this doesn't have a lot to do with Handi rifles but I read this forum the most and thought I'd post here. In about ten days, I will be heading out west toward northern Utah to check it all out for job opportunities. We have family out there and I was out there on my honeymoon last year and fell in love with the place. I told my wife then we would wait for one year to see if we felt the same about relocating and of course we do. I'll go out first to check everything out and hopefully one of the interviews I have scheduled will turn up something good for us.

I'll be looking for job opportunities first of course but then I'll check out local ranges and public hunting areas next. If anyone here is from or familiar with northern Utah, I would appreciate some info on the area. We have family out there but they fish only so I'll have a lot of help there when it comes to fishing. I've already been fishing at Strawberry Lake and several streams in that area. Maybe we have some Handiholics around Salt Lake City/West Valley City/Lehi area ...

I am headed out that way in 11 days from IL.  I have a son that lives in North Salt Lake that I am going to see and a daughter that is graduating from college in Idaho (boy, saying that makes me feel old).  My son tells me that it is a fast growing area.  He has 2 small sons, so he hasn't been able to shoot much.  One range that he went to a couple of times has closed due to urban sprawl.  He is suppose to be looking for some places to shoot also.  BUT his local Wal-Mart STILL SELLS firearms.   :o  I may have to have him place an order for me if I don't see anything there.

henry1 ... I'll be leaving this area on the 30th around noon. I am not sure what time of the day we will be traveling through Laramie but I will take you up on that unless it's in the middle of the night. I'll email my phone number to you today.

d_hiker ... my daughter lives in Tampa, Fl and I used to think that area was really growing (and it is of course) but the Greater Salt Lake City area is crazy right now. My wife's sister built a new home in a new development and before the home was completed last fall, the builder told them the same floor plan was almost $90,000 more from when they first signed their agreement in April. I know what you mean about feeling old. My son will graduate from college in May. My daughter graduated from Indiana University 10 years before. Oh boy ... but what a ride it has been.

Mac11700 ... thanks for the link. There is some really good information on there. I have never skied but we visited Park City last year ... nice area. I have always wanted to live in the mountains so maybe I finally get to.

Thanks guys ...

Good luck on the job hunt, and I'm sure that Jeep will get a workout there as well. As in Moab!!! ;D
