Hello everyone,
Its been awhile since I've posted about my 22-250 Ultra Vaminter.I have free floated the forearm on the Choate stock and I did a Trigger job on the rifle (FAQ's) And after reading A LOT on various Precision shooting sites, I made myslef an OAL gauge for my rifle. It's a simple little tool made by taking a "NEW" resized case and splitting the neck so that a bullet will slide down in easily into the neck of the case. I chambered the bullet 3 times, recording the OAL each time. I then felt confident that I was getting accurate measurments of OAL.
My OAL using a 52 gr Hornady BTHP Match bullet in "MY" chamber is 2.380" NOTE * this is longer than the stated 2.35 in the reloading manuels. Do NOT load longer cartridges unless you know the OAL of the particular round in YOUR rifle!! it could be DANGEROUS!
My load was 36.9 gr's of H-380, 52 gr BTHP as stated ( 3600 fps) .539" group at 100 yds. My privious best group was using the same charge , anf 55 gr Hornady SP. That group was .576" at 100 yds.
