?s pertaining to Versa Pack frame
« on: March 10, 2007, 12:19:52 PM »
Hey all,  A few of us have some questions pertaining to the Versa Pack frame...

1) Is it a standard SB1 or SB2 receiver or is it it's own animal?

2) Is the firing pin round like that of a shotgun or centerfire rifle firing pin or is it square like most rimfire firing pins?

3) If it is round is it large like a shotguns or smaller like a centerfire rifles?

4) Has anyone out there used a Versa Pack .22 barrel on a standard SB1 frame for more than just a hand full of shots and what have the long term results been. (i.e.; any damage to the firing pin or transfer bar, etc.)?

Thanks, for any info you can provide.

1) Is it a standard SB1 or SB2 receiver or is it it's own animal? (Looks like a SB1, Shotgun)

2) Is the firing pin round like that of a shotgun or centerfire rifle firing pin or is it square like most rimfire firing pins? (It's the same size and shape as a Shotgun)

3) If it is round is it large like a shotguns or smaller like a centerfire rifles? (Same size as a shotgun)

4) Has anyone out there used a Versa Pack .22 barrel on a standard SB1 frame for more than just a hand full of shots and what have the long term results been. (i.e.; any damage to the firing pin or transfer bar, etc.)? (NO, I have not)

Brett,

I hope this helps. Tomorrow I can send you pictures. I just purchased one for my son,  about three weeks ago. We have just shot the .410 barrel. I have SB2 and SB1 frames and the 22 rimfire fit them, but have not fired the .22 with them. The forearm is tight to get back on, the barrel screw hole doesn't aline.

PS: Brett I'm here for you, if I can help!

Froghunter, if you have any of the fired shotgun shells that you shot from the VersaPak frame, could you look at the firing pin imprint on the primers and tell me if they are round or rectangular shaped? Thanks....<><.... :)

Thanks Froghunter.    I have just made arrangements to purchase a .22lr Versa Pac barrel from another member of the forum in hopes that it will work on my .410 Topper frame.  Your answers, especially to my first question, gives me hope.

MSP Ret,

The imprints are round like other shotguns! If the question is it rectangular like the .22 WMR Ultra Hunter, No it is not. I have not looked at the sporterst rifle.

Thanks Froghunter, you have just answered a question which has eluded us here for quite a while, it's a great help. And the firing pin pins on the Sportsters and the Ultra Varmints in .22 Mag are the same, a bit rectangular....<><.... :)
