I've read about people using bolt grease .I have been using gun oil to lube the bolts on my rifles is that OK ? It seems like grease would attract alot of dirt etc. Set me straight......DP

D PETE :  Both products will atract dirt, but I usually use rem. oil with teflon on the bolt and bolt rails, also use dry slide when I have a bolt that needs a little work if it has a sticky spot. :D   JIM

We've got a regular contributor...Big Bill, who swears by Moly Grease (molybdenum disulfide) based for everything on milsurps including triggers.  He says it makes a mil trigger feel like butter!  Don't know why it wont work on bolts just as well.  Here's the site:

I put a small amount of synthetic gun grease on the rear face of the bolt lugs where they make contact for locking. To make the bolt work smoother on my MKII M77 stainless I spray the bolt body with Rem Drylube and work the bolt about 50 times. Then I wipe the excess off. Dave
