I did a quick search in Google for 'Alpine Custom Rifle' and didn't learn much, except that alot of Custom Gun Builders can use the 'Alpine Action' to build a rifle for you.

Then I searched Google again for 'Alpine Custom Action', again all it told me was that there are gun builder websites that offer that action if you want a custom rifle.

I found nothing to tell me who or what an 'Apline Action' is or where it is made or what makes it different from any other 98 action.  It does appear that the Alpine action is one expensive way to build a rifle, so I can guess that your rifle should be well made and built to last, if it was done correctly.

I suggest you go to either the Gunsmithing forum or the Custom Rifle forum here in Graybeard Outdoors and see what those guys can tell you about the Alpine action.

There should be a name somewhere on your rifle that would tell you who built it.  Custom Gun Makers usually take credit for their work.

Hi There,

Look carefully at the action tang on the left side, it may just have the word SPAIN stamped faintly there. It's faint as it's stamped before the polishing for blacking. If so it's a Santa Barbra action like Parker-Hale used on their later model 1100 & 1200 rifles.

I think the "Alpine" brand was another that used the Santa Barbara actions. The bolt handles had a rather distinct curve to the knob. Not the normal FN style. Anyway, I used the for a long time when Federal Firearms [ER Shaw ???] imported them. NOTHING wrong  with them. Just wish I had of had the $$$ to get a whole lot more back then.
