It is the same action as the interarms mark x and now the remington 798. They are usually a little rough, but it is a good solid mauser 98.
The Charles Daly Mauser to which you refer was an import that is no longer sold under the Charles Daly name. When Charles Daly stopped bringing them in, Remington put the Remington name on the Mausers and increased the price around $100.
With the current price of a new rifle, any time you can find something in good shape and under $350, you are doing well, in my opinion. And right now there are some real sweatheart private deals out there with the Boomers gettng older.
Charles Daly wasn't a badly made rifle, they just weren't on the tip of everyones lips when it came time to buy.
