legal knife?

I bought a KERSHAW 1660BS (ken onion) knife and love it.  I got to looking at the state knife laws,   http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/sta-law.htm ,      and several say that a knife that "has a blade 1 1/2 inches long or longer which opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring, or other device on the handle of the knife" is considered a swithchblade and illegal.   Anyone have an opinion if my knife qualifies for this and is illegal?   Sure don't want to get fined on vacation. Does the "other device" make mine illegal??

Wow, that's a good question.  As far as I know (which isn't always that far  ) Kershaw/Onion designed that knife to be legal in all jurisdictions.

Legally, the 1660 is an "assisted opening" knife vs. an "automatic opening" knife(switchblade). There is no device on the handle which will cause the blade to open automatically.  You have to use your finger and put pressure on the stud or the back of the blade.

That explanation sounds logical, thanks, Joel.   I was worried also because I gave my daughter and her friend each one for Christmas and would not want them getting into trouble.
