Is it even possible 22lr rebored to 22mag

boys dig out your digital micrometer! What I would like to know is the diameter of a sportster 22lr bore and a sporster 22mag bore and a 223 bore.....because a 22 mag will not even start to chamber in a 22lr sportster! i was just checking the 22mag round to see if it would even start to chamber and NO it won't! so does this mean that if you rebored a 22 lr to a 22mag the lead would be a tight fit threw the 22lr riflings !"dangerous like" Was reading about people wanting to rebore a 22lr versapac to 22mag!Also just wondering the bore size of a 223 also!!!One more thing a 22mag rim is also bigger than a 22lr rim can someone measure that to! Physically possible yes, a smart thing to do? Not in my opinion. I know of one TC .22LR barrel done that way long ago and without a reamer so it was a bit of a butcher job. It never came apart but a lot of the cases did leak gases.

One (name with held cuz he's banned from this site) person who claims to be a TC expert and gunsmith used to do it all the time.

But the thing to consider is that the .22LR is .001" smaller in diameter so it has to increase pressures. No those pressures won't be a problem for the gun but might for the case. Do you want cases to be coming apart that close to your eyes? I don't.
