30-06 has potential

I learned that this gun is very sensitive to barrel temperature.  My Savage can shoot 10rds on a nickel in 10 minutes but the Handi likes it cool 8).  By target 1 here I've got 80 rds through the barrel (60 last weekend) and I've been cleaning thoroughly.  Got a couple to overlap here, got excited, and made a nice portrait of how a hot barrel can string a few in a row.  I spoke with the fella next to me about slowing down from shooting every minute or so and waiting until the barrel has almost totally recovered.  I timed it to be almost 10 minutes so I shot every ten from there on out to eliminate variables.  It was a little cold outside so that helped.  Target 3 is the first group for this gun really.  Aiming at center the top two fliers are fouling shots.  Shots 3-5-4 are tight.  Clicked up to a bulls eye in 3 shots from there and moved to 100 yards at this point.  The target w/ the quarter shows a fouler and a decent 5 shot group that I shot around a random flier, ( the shot outside of the red marker is part of a later grouping...and not a great one ;)).  It was getting late and it became easier to see the holes on the white rather than in the black @100.  I was pleased that I could tag that random hole 2 times and get next to it 3x too!  Still seems a little wild sometimes.  I'd like to see the fliers be predictable and group every 3-4-5-6 after cleaning.  That's an hour if I let it cool like this!  Anyhoo, I was shooting Power Shock 150 grainers.  I put two O rings in.  Next time I'll try just one.  From there we'll see.  I like the 24 power (16")Banner but for better balance, and to keep with the compact concept,  I may put a shorter scope on it.  We may have a shooter! ;D
