bore polishing
« on: January 28, 2007, 04:39:59 PM »
I ordered some Wheeler Engineering lapping compound from MidwayUSA and finally got around to using it today on my 243 and 7mm08 handi's. I only used the 2 less abrasive grits (320 and 600) for 50 strokes each like the bore preperation instructions state. When I started I could hardly get a certain size patch down the bore, but when I was finished the bore looked like a mirror between the groves and the same size patch went down almost effortlessly. I can't wait to get out to the range and try some handloads I am working up for both calibers I will share a range report as soon as I get out to shoot. Charlie

I hope that works for ya Charlie, also hope it wasn't too agressive for the shallow rifling. We'll be looking forward to your range report.
