6.5 MD JDJ @ 385 meters
« on: May 06, 2003, 03:48:02 PM »
I took along the 6.5 Mini-Dreadnought JDJ to a silhouette match on Sunday and after the match I shot up some fire form loads at the 385 meter turkey. I found out real quick that the Burris 2.5x7 scope does not have enough vertical adjustment to get on the target. We had to hold about a foot over the top of the turkeys back to hit it. The fire form laod is 44.0 grs of AA4350 behind a Hor. 140 gr Spire point @ 2390 FPS out of a 15 inch Encore Barrel. When we did hit it, you could see the turkey swinging with your naked eye.  I think I'm going to try the Burris Signature rings with -10 & +10 inserts and see if that will give me enough adjustment

Use a credit card

Cut a shim from an old credit card and put it under the rear base. This might not be the most politically correct repair, but it works if you are just a little off.

Edited...I forgot to add, if the credit card is too thick, use a Bi-Mart card.  I still have a Bi-Mart card on my first 30-06.
....make it count

I have a Burris 2x7. I sent it back to Burris and had them put in the Balisti Plex recticle. I love it. Just another possibility.  Good Shooting.  Jerry J
