I have no clue what you're talking about here but if you passed on a M29 in half way decent shape at $300 you missed a real chance to make a profit. That's a steal on one.

For the stainless guns it's the 629-3, don't know if it would be a 29-3 or not.  It would be nice to let the rest of us poor souls know where this NIB .44 is for 300$.  Thats a steal.  I also agree with GB, you could make a quick 100$ easy is you just bought it to resell.

The endurance/accuracy package was first on the 29-5 Classic series and that series was introduced with the limited run of Magna Classic's in both the 29 & 629. Most 29-5's should have the full package, but the 29-5 Classic Magnum 2 doesn't incororate some of the improvements and more closely resembles a 29-4. The 29-4 did incorporate the longer cylinder bolt notch but I'm not certain what if anything else was present.

Broom Rider, I read an article by Brian Pearce that I'm pretty sure listed the 629-3 as a full endurance package gun.  I got out my 629-3 Mountain Gun and it appeared to have all of the upgrades he mentioned, which I believe was a radius stud package, a internal locking mechanism to prevent unlocking, and a hardened crane, (can't tell by looking at the last one).  Am I wrong?

Ok, I went to my second edition SCSW and looked it up. The 629-2E had it most of the changes (transitional model) and the 629-3 was would be the first of the full complement of features. All of the 629 Classic's have the endurance package as far as I know.
A 29-5 and the 629-3 would be the same generation as far as design changes.

Broom Rider, thanks for the reply, I have only 629's to reference, and my Mountain Gun seemed to have all the goodies as the Pearce article stated.  It's good info to have about the 29's and Classics.  Thanks!

I believe that you can look at the 2 visible sideplate screws and the endurance package has a slightly larger diameter head on the screw under the cylinder(crane screw).  The old S&W's, without the endurance package, had the same diameter screw heads. Not talking about the flat head screw under the grips.  As far as the dash numbers go for that mod?, but began around 1989-90. A "Shooting Times" magazine (September 1989) had a lot of detail about the endurance package and reasons for it. Also, the notches in the clyinder are larger on the endurance package revolvers.
