527 safety malfunction and bolt binding

I have a new 527 Lux in .22 Hornet that has developed two problems that may or may not be related.  Has anyone experienced a problem with the safety, where if you squeeze the trigger with the safety engaged, when you release the safety, the rifle fires?  Secondly, the bolt binds when the rifle is dry fired.  Although I certainly don't make a habit of dry firing any firearm, it happens, and I've never experienced this problem before.

Have you by chance been adjusting the trigger?

I have a feeling that could be where you problem lies. The only person I knew who had problems with a 527 had stripped the gun down including the bolt and not assembled it correctly again. He also adjusted the trigger and got a similar problem

No, I made no attempt to adjust the trigger or strip the bolt until after these problems had already occurred.

Still sounds like a trigger adjustment problem in the sear engagement adjustment.  I bought an Annie once that was like that when I got it.  If you have a local smith it might be just as easy to have him look at as send it back, pay shipping, wait weeks, etc. 

The manual that came with your rifle has a section on trigger adjustment.  I adjusted the creep and pull weight on mine and it's pretty easy.  If you're going to send it back anyway might be worth trying first.
