Great Plains bullet - Lee Improved Minie
« on: January 14, 2007, 02:46:10 AM »
My Huntsman really likes the Hornady GP 385 gr. bullet. It loads real easy after I slicked upthe barrel with JB's bore paste, and I like a full diameter slug.

I noticed that Lee sells molds for an improved 50 cal. Minie ball that looks to be very similar to the Hornady GP slug I'm using. Has anyone tried them in their Huntsman? I am particularly interested in whether they load as easily. If it worked well, that might be enough to get me into casting.

BTW, the JB's paste really smoothed up my barrel. It loads and cleans up much easier now.

I have the lee real bullet mould in 320 gr for the 50 cal.  Loads very easily.  I lube with liquid alox and sometimes with natural lube 1000.
