Bandolier Holster for 5.5" Redhawk?
« on: March 15, 2007, 04:09:47 PM »
Found a used, stainless  5.5" Redhawk this week in nice shape.  Wanted a more compact gun than my 7.5 Super Blackhawk to carry on back country flyfishing or berry picking outings.  I'd really like to find a nylon or "Cordura" bandolier type holster for the gun.  I don't fancy toting 49 ozs. of iron + ammo on my belt-gun belt or no.  Trouble is, seems that all the bandolier type holsters I see are intended for scoped guns with longer barrels.  Maybe they'll work fine, but I'd really rather have something that fit better if it's available.

Anybody solved this kind of problem?

I thinkI saw an Uncle Mikes holster as you described.  I believe I saw on the Midsouth site, plus they are a sponsor.

Thanks, Doug.  The Uncle Mike's holsters I've seen are all designed for a scoped gun.  Maybe there are some others I haven't seen.  I posted this question on another site and just discovered that Bianchi has pretty much exactly what I've been looking for.  I'll have to either find one or order one.

I got a leather one from sportsman guide. Its a slip over the head, and arm. It comes with a 10 round holder attached. Mine ran me $90.00 (shipping and everything). I ordered mine for christmass and as usual for me it had to be back ordered. Leather is fairly thick and used a lots of neats foot oil on it. The strap to hold it in took a lot of oil and some stretching but works fine now. It is adjustable and you can get it in left or right draw.
