Hello Aldar
It sounds like you are describing a S&W U.S Service Model of 1917, It is a fixed sight revolver and they are made on the massive-N-frame. They were made from1917 to 1946. There Primary function was to serve as a War time revolver, so finishes were Matte Bluing, and not as Finely detailed as the Civilain production revolver's. They should have a Lanyard ring in the Bottom of the grip frame, and Most wear a set of Non Medallion Factory smooth small service stocks. There are several survivor's out there, and condition will determine actual value. I often see them for sale ranging from Poor condition at the $200.00 mark on up to very nice close to perfect which averages around the $600.00-$900.00 Mark. There was also some made with Adjustable sights and these are rare and will bring a Premium when seen for sale, often Double the Quoted prices of the more common fixed sight model. The seller often set's the price, and like anything else Higher Prices attract fewer sales, so the Average I have seen most would be around the $350.00 mark in my area. I hope this helps, Hammerdown
