Question on new extractor type barrels
«
on:

I saw a new BC in a shop the other day, it had an extractor instead of an ejector. Do these mechanically extract or is it a spring system? Do they still have the stuck case issues of old?

There are apparently 2 types of extractors, the late style seems to be better than early extractors since some problems have been reported with the early style.

Does it activate when the barrel is opened or by a lever?
I couldn't tell by the write-ups if opening the barrel forces the case out or if a leaf spring does. Sorry for being dense.

Barrel movement causes the extractor to move when the large roll pin is pulled down by the bosses on each side in the frame. The extractor is pushed into the retracted position by the standing breech when the action is closed.

So it IS a mechanical push out then, correct? Sorry, little dense lately.
