Second Range Report on New .204 Ruger - Sat. Dec.16
« on: December 16, 2006, 03:32:40 PM »
We are having some balmy weather this week so I got out to the range. I took my Remington 750 in .308 and my new bull-barrelled Handi with the laminated cinammon stocks( what a great looking rifle!!!). I pressure tested 32 gr Vmax's to max load on BL-(C)2 with no pressure signs at 42 degrees F-- 2MOA or slightly worse. Time to get to work on the modifications as she's got to shoot better. I now have access to a machine shop at work for a 'government' job so I am going to have an aluminum or steel  pillar made up which I will epoxy in place, free float and shim the fore-stock and bed the barrel and barrel lug to the frame. I only have about 50 rounds thru it so I am not worried about achieving MOA ---I'll get there. I have been practicing shooting my 750 off-hand and dry-firing. I can now put 17 out of 20 shots into a paper plate at 100 yards(three near misses). Practice does work!!!! Shooting my .223 Handi off-hand is next as I am getting ready for coyote hunting with my son starting in January.

Best wishes to all for a merry(and safe) Christmas season!!!!!!!!!!
