.223 bolt face diameter?
« on: April 29, 2003, 10:02:11 AM »
Can someone tell me what the diameter is on a bolt face for a .223 Rem? How much clearance is required for the case head? I'm still working on the Mauser -> .223 conversion and I want to make a ring insert on the bolt face to support the case head instead of letting it flop around on the big 8X57 bolt opening.
Thank you for your help.

I find .390 is the commonly listed face diameter for the 222-223 class cartridges.  Good luck on the project..  from the gunnut69
