OT -Walmart to do away with LayAway...?
« on: December 02, 2006, 06:58:55 AM »
I recently went to my local wallyworldb and had plans on putting back a Nikon 3-9 Buckmasters in layaway. The Fella at sporting goods told me all items for layaway had to be in by Nov 17, and they have to be out by Dec 4 or 5th I believe. He told me they were doing away with Lay Away completely. I asked another employee and she confirmed this as well. Went to the next town over and got the same response.
If it's true..and with all the changes in their gun sales and now layaway vanishing, there's gonna be a lot of POed people.

Edit - just found this on Google:

I guess it's for real...

Aaron, that's been posted several times, they've done away with the layaway program, but they still do special order firearms on layaway, 50% down and the balance at delivery,  Bluebayou posted about it about it a long time ago. I've posted about it several times. ;)

The gun counter clerk at one of my WMs mentioned some other non-firearm items that will still be handled as layaway, but they were other special order stuff, but I don't remember what they were, my focus was on the special order guns!! ;D

That was my main concern as well. When I Googled it, I see a lot of petition sites to keep it. I guess only time will tell if they reconsider. It's funny, I told the cashier I guess K-Mart will be getting more of my Biz...she gave me an odd look ::)
Well at least the guns will remain, thats good to hear.
I tire of Big Business hold on people, but thats a debate I care not to get in to.
