i have been useing the 45 lc for several years, when i have to shoot which isnt often. the 250 grain does fine but not a lot of exspansion. remmeber hogs vitals are differant than deer and they will have a shield around shoulders. why do you say they will not be very big?
no hog to big for our dogs

I like a 300 gr. Hard Cast in either WLN or WFN configuration at around 1200 fps. It is deadly on hogs.

I use a Cast Performance 300 grain LFNGC loaded over 2400 to 1100 fps. It will poke a nice big hole on both sides. No need for tracking though, it drops them every time.

For Ruger Super Blackhawk: I load Midway's 255 gr. SWC Hard Cast Lead bullets over 9.5 grains of Unique in 45LC.  You only need pretty good shot placement.  At 21 yds. my Ruger puts them through both shoulders at one time.  No more steps.  Good luck.
