657 scope mount - need help

Took my 657 chambered in 41 GNR out this morning to sight it back in , well on the 6 th. shot the scope came flying back and hit me in the head , i had just finished putting 2 more 4/40 screws in the mount for a total of 4 and now this .

Any ideas on how th keep the damn thing on .  ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:(

Put the irons back on and cut your losses. Too much damage has likely already been done and making more or bigger holes will only reduce strength.

...if a four screw mount will not keep the scope on you have a REAL problem. What kind of base is it anyway? Is this M657 one of the later ones that was drilled and tapped from the factory?

I have had very good luck with the Weaver no-gunsmith base system on my Ruger Blackhawk .41 Magnum. No shifting at all with very heavy handloads, far more recoil than factory. Not sure how they do on a S&W but if you have to have a scope mounted and the screw in kind keep failing this may do it...

The only other thing I can thnk of is a TSOB Mount that I believe MagNaPort can fit to a S&W...
