Two points of Information.

1.  I shot a 400lb black bear in Manitoba and it droped him straight down.  Bang flop that was it!  22 yard shot.

2.  I am also starting to reload for this cartridge and I would suggest you look at information by Bear , he lives in Alaska and hunts there.  He has hunted with the caliber and different loads on Moose and more.  Some information is in the Medium calibers thread.  I personally am going to go with RL-15, 54gr. to 58gr.and 286gr Nosler Partition.  This load was obtained from John Nosler as he and Chub Eastman use the caliber for Elk and other game.  I am concerned about some of the other powders which might require a compressed load.  I am just really getting reloading for this caliber and would rather keep it simple.  Just me.  Your gonna love the smack down of this caliber!

well the rifle came today.unfortunately my ammo/reloading supplies/scope rings didn't come.seems to be a nice rifle, although i do have a little btch already.maybe it's my own fault but,i plan on putting a scope on it so i wanted to remove the open sights, thought it would be a nice clean look without them.well seems as though cz epoxy's them on.no big deal i'll just give it a tap with a brass punch right, wrong.sight came off no problem but so did the bluing underneath.real handy huh.looks like i leave the sights intact.has anyone else removed their sights, would a little heat help break the bond.i didnt mess with the front ,but i still think i would like to remove them.thanks, adker

just wanted to let you guy's know that cz has made me pretty happy.i finally got all my pieces and was able to get to the range.i had ordered some prvi ammo to shoot up for the brass.my gun loved them,i was shooting consistent 3/4 " groups at 100 yds.the set trigger was nice to use for paper but i am glad there is a heavier setting.i plan on handloading but for now i am very happy with the factory ammo performance.
i think i might have the fever now though,i am looking at a 527 fs just can't decide a on caliber.
does anyone know of a factory duplication load to match the prvi 9.3xx 285 sp?guess my ruger rsi's are going to have some company, thanks adker.

Congrats on the rifle. My brother owns a CZ 550 American in the same caliber. I bought him five boxes of the Prvi Partizan ammo from Grafs about a year ago. First off, that load in a 24 inch barrel develops 2,263 feet per second velocity. Take the normal 25 feet per second average off per inch for a shorter barrel and you will probably be getting about 2,188 feet per second. That is giving you a muzzle energy of about 3,030 foot pounds of energy. That is a very low-level load for the 9.3x52. You can probably load down to get the same velocity. The Prvi Partizan ammo should be enough to take any trophy you wish to take in the lower 48. It sounds like you are getting good groups with the ammunition. A fellow on another sight uses Ramshot Big Game powder, Lapua brass, 286 Nosler Partitions to get one-hole groups with a chronographed 2,450 feet per second velocity from a CZ 550 American. That would be a thumper, on both ends. Good luck with your rifle. Tom Purdom
