I would recommend either the moosejaw elite or the strikeforce. Gary is an excellent person to work with and stands behind his product...and most importantly his bows are top notch excellent performers. Gary has a LIFETIME of experience with traditional archery. He wrote many articles called "the competitive edge" in Instictive Archery magizine and I stayed at his home for several days while travelling. I used to own a traditional archery shop and am familiar with nearly all the major bows out there and many minor ones as well. Gary's bow are as good as any and better than most...and he is someone that guarantees his work with service FAR FAR surpassing ANYONE I ever delt with...and I delt with many.

When you say start out with, do you mean a first time traditional bow or are you getting back into it after a lay off etc.?  There are a lot of good used bows out there if you are a first time shooter and I would find one in 45 or 50 lbs to see if it's something you really want to stick with. Then if you really like it I might consider one of the many great bows from one of the custom boyers.
Good luck and have fun
