Velocity difference between 24 and 26 inch bbl
« on: October 31, 2006, 12:14:04 PM »
I have the 24" stainless on my frame. Anyone have any idea what the velocity difference is between the 24 and 26 inch barrels (assume TS loose)? When I ordered the bbl all they had on the list was the 24". When I got it back with an updated list, they had the 26". Bummer, although the 24 is very handy, just slightly muzzle heavy.

Probably depends on the type of powder you are using. I suspect that the difference with a fast powder like Tripple Seven is not very much. If you are using slower powders that rely on barrel length to build pressure (Like Black Mag'3 for instance) the difference will be greater. Most powders have just about used up their energy in the 24 inches unless you are using magnum loads.
