20 ga BRI question

I just rebarreled a 20 ga with a custom slow twist barrel which seems to shoot the winchester BRI quite well.
Actually really well.
Just how effective are they on deer and to what realistic range?
I did find ballistics on them but I was looking for someone with experience with them.

I have great luck with the winchester platinum in another gun but I wanted to try these in this rig.  Thanks

I haven't shot them out of my 20ga, because the 12ga ones were such poor performers on deer in my experience. They were very accurate, but they would just punch a small hole clear through the deer and never seemed to transfer any energy or knockdown power unless you like high shoulder shots where serious bone is encountered. Granted, I recovered most of the deer, but blood trails were very poor and a couple I hit good went over 200 yards. There are better performing slugs out there for sure.

Thanks Busta.  I have shot deer with cast lead in my .357 and was happy with performance, but the nose profile is so different on the BRI I don't know if it would have the same effect.
The first group I fired with the new barrel was .5" at 50 yds so it had me interested. 

High shoulder isn't a favorite shot of mine and to what distance are they effective?  May have to keep looking.

My sister in law used to shoot those out of her H&R 20 ga USH.  Terrible performance on deer, I mean utterly pitiful.  I managed to find both deer she shot with it but it wasn't easy and they were 1/2 mile or better tracking jobs.  We switched her to the Winchester partion Golds after they came out.  Much better slug, kills deer very dead very fast.

         Yep the BRI's punch .50 cal. holes right on through them. They are tack drivers so you can shootem ,eye,head,heart, and liver. Never had one go far. I shot a big doe at 45 yrds. with 454 Raging Bull gun and Win. partion Golds- made jello of insides! So if you want to blowem up use the Partion Golds.
