Fishing for cats with toads
« on: May 18, 2004, 07:18:43 AM »
On Mothers day I ws camping in louisville nebraska. My neighbor camper was using cut up toads to fish with. He described how to cut them up but did not get to show me. Anyone out there use toads and a circle hook and could describe the procedure. He was catching some really good sized bluecats. I was using chicked liver and was doing well also but would like to try the toad thing.

Also, I like using turkey livers with panty hose. They are bigger and seem tougher. Good luck.

used toads for years on trot lines on the Platte river.  great bait when you can get them.  Use the small ones whole, hook thru the mouth not pucturing vitals so they will kick.  Always did well with them.
