Javelina in Texas

 I took a javelina this week in Duval county...I would normally not but the hogs and deer just weren't showing...He was 185 yds out and I had my Winchestr Black Shadow 7mm Rem Mag...I was using the Monarch ammo from Academy made in Serbia, 150gr HP...One shot just below and behind the ear and he went down where he stood...Did not lose much meat as it was a good clean neck shot...My friend that used to laugh at my "plastic stock" didn't laugh to loud...He missed a hog at 70 yds with his Marlin 336 35 Rem...I don't blame the Marlin, I told him to adjust the loose nut behind the trigger.

I hunt Duval county too.  Haven't seen has many Javelina as I used to.  There used to tons of them everywhere.  On the place I hunt I see very few.  Where in Duval county are you hunting?  Shot a few when I was a lot younger but don't shoot them anymore.  Have a lot of wild hogs on the place now, maybe they have run the Javelina off.  Anyway good shot on your Javelina..  They've have had a lot of rain in parts of the county the last couple of months and the deer have not had to look for food.  The deer are coming to the feeders now, so maybe I'll start seeing more.  Opening weekend didn't see but a few does and small bucks.  Good luck hunting

I got invited, my friend has 200 acre lease by La Rosita...We haven't seen many deer either, just some hogs and a few javelina...I haven't got to see any hogs yet but then I was only out there for 2 days...
