Stevens 200 Prices
« on: February 09, 2006, 12:52:44 PM »
I was at Dick's Sporting Goods the other day and I noticed that they had the Stevens 200 with a 3X9 Simmons on sale for $249.99.  I asked the salesman if he had one in 7mm-08, and he indicated that he didn't.  Apparently they only received this package in 270, 30-06, and 7MM.

I was wondering if anyone had seen this package in 7mm-08 anywhere.  I have thought about calling some of the other locations in the area.

Thank you,
Garrick Burdette

Garrick,
That is an excellent price! Worth it even if it didn't have the scope. Theose are the only calibers I have seen for sale in any of the gun shops I've been in.

My guess is that they have only received the long action models thus far.

I just picked up a Savage 200 in .223 today for $296. WW wanted $269 but didn't have any and their supplier didn't have them either. I hear of others getting them for alot less than I've seen them for around here. I wonder if the pricing is regional? Or is the .223 caliber in high demand so they charge more?

I dont think is comes in 7mm-08.I picked up the package this fall in 30.06 and am pleased with the gun,its a keeper.Took a doe at close to 200 yrds with it and that aint easy with that cheapo simmons scope that comes with it.That said,i have the same simmons scope on my stevens 200 and savage 93r17.If i could afford to replace them,i would.I think next season the 200 will be wearing a nikon buckmaster 3x9x40.

The website list the following calibers

Short Action: 223, 22-250, 243, 7mm-08, 308
Long Action : 25-06, 270, 30-06, 7MM MAG, 300 WIN MAG

Like I said, I think the only packages available at this time are the long action models.

I think I might try to call Bass Pro Shops, another post further down the board indicates that they have the rifle alone for $199.99.

I wasn't impressed with the Simmons scope either.

I bought a Stevens 200 .223 last month....Paid $260 for it. I out a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 on it and it shoots well. The short actions are harder to find but they are out there. Mine was purchased through www.galleryofguns.com by my local dealer.

Bass pro's $199 was a special run that they did a few months ago, but I would look for it again. It was only for 30-06 and .270 though.

Bass Pro was offering the 30-06 and .270, I am sure it is because they feel they cn order a million of those, and with that offer them at the $199 deal.  Good chance you sell a few rifles in those calibers.

Here in Ohio,Fin ,Feather & Fur is offering them for $299.99 in .223,.22-250,.243 with  3-9x40 BSA scope.   Been thinking on one myself in a .223  but really haven't decided yet! Thought it would make a dandy truck rifle! :P

Hey, hello from ohio! I live about a half hour east of the Fin.

I love their prices and the staff knows me by now. I would buy one of those rifles at that price but i dont want the cheapo scope.

Maybe sometime i will pick one up but it will be in 7mm-08 and will soon wear a bushnell banner scope.

Howdy Matt :D ,
I live about 1/2 hour north of there,up near Spencer Lake.  I have been going  to FFF fer quite a few years , 80's,back when it was in that little gas station. Althought I am not  abig fan of the new place ,to me it has losted its personal touch that it had when it was such a small place! I still buy my powder and primers there, it is a Good place to spend  time in. I'm with you, if I did buy the 200 out fit ,I would change the scope  after I saved the $ to upgrade! I too have thought of the 7mm-08,its just a little father down on my list now! :-)

Don't think i have ever been to spencer lake. yeah i do remember when the Fin was just a little gas station-looking place. now they use that place to shoot clays behind during their leagues.

I didn't go there much until they built the new place, i went one day to check it out and went "whoa!" and since then i have bought about 8 guns, a reloading press, a bunch of reloading stuff, a few knives, some clothes...you get the picture. lol

i guess anytime i am short a few bucks for something i can blame the fin right?  :)

my stevens 200 in .243 would print groups of less than 3/4" with factory ammo. it didnt like the 100 grain stuff but i had 75 grain hollowpoints that it just loved.
