I bought a new handi in the 30-06 last fall that held 1" groups out of the box and sent it off for the .204 and 22 hornet barrels. I've put about 20 rounds through each, but can't get the groups less then 3" in either. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Huntitall

Welcome to the wor;d of handi-holic's , as Mac said check the FAQ's at the top of the page . it will help a lot .

For some reason the smaller cal. seem to take some break in time , the more rounds you feed them the better they shoot .

They will come around .  :D

Dave, Glad to hear about the improvements.  It gives me some encouragement. What changes did you make to your loads and gun to shrink your groups? I haven't gotten back to  shoot mine yet.

huntitall, nothing fancy i just took the gun completely apart & cleaned.right wrong or other-wise i put jb paste on everything i could wipe down..i also installed the o-ring in the forend.i also wasn't resizing my brass correct...long story...the rest was just increasing load charges,i also choked my frnt bag to be closer to the action where i had it at the end of the front stock...i hope i explained that right?? meaning puting the front bag far back as i could & operate the gun...this gun doesn't ride the bags well so you have to work with it...hope that helps...

Thanks dave. I'll try the JB Paste and the O-ring first. By the way, where can you find JB paste, What is it exactly, a lapping compound?

From the FAQ and Help sticky...

http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=67490

You won't find a product named JB Bore paste, you can choose from JB non-embedding Bore compound or JB Bore Bright, most use the compound, but any fine metal polish will work. A lot use Flitz which is commonly available as are Maas and Simichrome. USP paste is another bore cleaning product that you may find locally.
